The STIHL MSA 161 T Cordless Top-Handle Chainsaw is a professional-grade battery-powered chainsaw developed specifically for arborists and tree surgeons working at height. Compact, lightweight and exceptionally well-balanced, it offers outstanding manoeuvrability for precise pruning, crown maintenance and aerial tree work.

Part of the STIHL ALLPRO/AP System, the MSA 161 T weighs just 2.5kg (without battery), making it an excellent choice for users who require maximum control and reduced fatigue during prolonged periods in the canopy.

Compared to its predecessor, the MSA 160 T, this updated model delivers a 40% higher chain speed and a 15% increase in motor performance, providing faster cutting performance and greater efficiency when tackling demanding pruning and maintenance tasks.

The chainsaw is fitted with a low-profile 1/4″ P saw chain, designed to minimise chain chatter and deliver exceptionally smooth, clean and precise cuts. This makes it ideal for detailed pruning work where accuracy and finish are essential.

Powered by a highly efficient brushless EC motor, the MSA 161 T provides reliable cutting performance with low vibration, low maintenance requirements and consistent power delivery throughout the battery charge.

Built specifically for aerial use, the chainsaw features a practical carrying ring for attachment while climbing, a trigger side-lock button and a large throttle interlock lever for improved safety and ease of operation.

Thanks to its battery-powered design, the MSA 161 T operates with significantly lower noise levels than comparable petrol-powered models, allowing work to begin earlier in noise-sensitive environments without requiring ear defenders under many working conditions.

Like many STIHL ALLPRO/AP System tools, the MSA 161 T is IPX4-rated, providing protection against splash water and allowing reliable operation in wet weather conditions.

For optimum balance and handling, STIHL recommends pairing the chainsaw with the AP 200 P battery, which provides up to 50 minutes of runtime. For extended working times, the AP 300 P battery can also be used.
