The STIHL HLA 86 Cordless Long-Reach Hedge Trimmer is a professional hedge maintenance tool designed for landscapers, contractors and grounds maintenance teams who need extra reach for trimming tall and wide hedges.
Part of the STIHL ALLPRO/AP System, the HLA 86 combines powerful cordless performance with excellent ergonomics and low-noise operation, making it ideal for working in residential areas, hospitals, schools, care homes and other noise-sensitive environments.
The telescopic shaft extends from 260cm to 330cm, allowing users to comfortably reach high hedge tops and deep hedge sides without the need for ladders. Its excellent balance and lightweight design help minimise operator fatigue during prolonged use.
The hedge trimmer is fitted with a 50cm (20″) laser-cut, diamond-ground double-sided blade, delivering clean, precise cuts and excellent cutting performance. The cutter bar can be adjusted through 115° (-45° to +70°), enabling comfortable trimming of hedge tops, sides and awkward angles.
Powered by a durable brushless EC motor, the HLA 86 provides rapid blade acceleration and reliable cutting performance while keeping vibration levels low. The ergonomic control handle features a self-resetting Ergo lever, allowing comfortable operation for both left and right-handed users.
For transport and storage, the cutter head folds flat against the shaft, reducing the overall transport length to just 187cm, making it easier to carry and store in service vehicles.
The HLA 86 is also IPX4-rated, providing protection against splash water and allowing reliable operation in wet and rainy conditions.

The HLA 86 features a square telescopic shaft with a quick-release twist lock clamp, allowing the shaft length to be adjusted quickly and securely without tools. Simply twist to unlock, adjust the length and twist again to lock securely in position.
